Packing Tips
There is a lot to consider when packing, here are a few tips to help you:
- Make a list. A list of everything you own can be useful when you need to remember what you put into storage or if you need to make a claim
- Identify fragile items. Pack these items with care using bubble wrap or similar. Label ‘fragile’ on the boxes so they can be easily seen.
- Identify items that you will need on a regular basis. Position these items near the front so you can easily access them.
- Identify bulk items. Place the heaviest boxes at the bottom and lightest on top.
- Label every box. This will make finding what you need so much easier.
- Use strong, uniformed sized boxes. Using similar sizes boxes allows you to stack them easier making the most of your space.
- Store sofas and mattresses on end and stack chairs pad-to-pad to maximise space.
- Make the most of hollow spaces. Don’t leave wardrobes, chest of drawers or suitcases empty. Fill these with clothing, linen or other small items to maximise space.
- Cover with a dust sheet. When all your items are packed and in, cover with a dust sheet to keep them clean and protected.
